... we were men, we became workers ...

SYNOPSIS

Adults ask children: "What do you want to do when you grow up?". According to his fantasy, each child responds by imagining the job of his dreams; no child will answer: “I want to do any job, the important thing is to have a salary”. When the child grows up he often hears those same adults say: “I recommend eh! Whatever job you have, keep it dear dear! ”. But how?! A child can't wait to become an adult to live his life satisfactorily, and instead finds himself entangled in a social structure that flattens the complexity, imagination, inner richness and uniqueness of every single human being. forcing him to "survive" by living to work, rather than allowing him to "live" by working to live.

The human being should work in order to enjoy life, instead he is reduced in many cases to work to be able to have the minimum for survival. Would all mankind's progress be this, to work hard for many hours a day just to meet basic needs?

This comic-satirical / existential show proposes a critical reflection on the society that forces the Person, with all its complexity, into the narrow role of worker, reducing him to a consumer. Work as an end, and not as a means, is the cause of many pathologies of the so-called civilization: exploitation of man by man, alienation, depression, economic inequalities, brutalization of the oppressed and oppressors. In this representation I intend to reveal the great deception of the Ideology of work understood as effort and not as an expression of one's talent at the service of the Company. This Ideology is supported by the powers of mass conditioning - politics, finance, media - with the aim of persuading people to be only workers and, as such, any job is fine as long as it survives the era of crisis. The intent to unmask this inhuman "spell" is pursued through the comic-satirical register and with a dramaturgy in which the narration is interspersed with the interpretation of various characters and some satirical songs composed by me. The ending is an invitation to follow the advice of the wise men of all time to design a company that has the Person at its center and not the worker or the consumer.

DIRECTOR'S NOTES

The work proposes a reflection on the difference between "human being" and "worker", satirizing on the way in which work is considered in the political and journalistic debate: the individual is degraded to a worker, hiding the profound meaning that work should have , that is not only the subsistence, but the realization of one's attitudes and therefore of one's dignity and essence of being a human being, a being whose body-mind-spirit complexity cannot be flattened and compressed in the narrow word 'work', but dilated in the infinite semantic territory of the word 'VALUE'.

The comic-satirical narration, punctuated by satirical songs composed by the same author, arrives at the end of a pragmatic-spiritual vision.

The genre to which the work belongs I would say is the comic drama, that is a reflection in a comic-satirical / existential key on the dramatic human story, which is not limited to the corrosive denunciation typical of satire, but indicates the luminous way to get out of the many blind alleys. of the society in which we flounder with our ailments.

But it is also a thriller that goes in search of the culprit ... or rather: the guilty ones! Which are inside and outside of us.

With a playful chromatic humor we could say that it is a yellow that has the intent to discover who has designed a black society that makes many people green with anger because of others who should be red with shame.

The solution proposed by the narrator-detective has the blue color of the infinite sky ...
